Why Good Sleep Is So Important!

Good sleep is essential for our physical and mental health. This applies to to everyone and especially backpackers trying to recoup from a strenuous day of hiking. It allows our bodies and minds to rest and repair, and it plays a role in many important functions, including:

  • Cognitive function: Sleep helps us to think clearly, learn new things, and remember information.
  • Physical health: Sleep is important for our immune system, metabolism, and cardiovascular health.
  • Emotional well-being: Sleep helps us to regulate our emotions and cope with stress.

One factor that can affect sleep quality is your pillow. A good pillow should support your head and neck in a comfortable position. It should also be the right height and firmness for your sleeping position. If you are not comfortable, you may toss and turn throughout the night, which can lead to poor sleep quality.
