Quick rule: stuff sacks organize, dry bags protect. A stuff sack keeps your kit sorted and compressed. A dry bag seals water out. Most backpackers run both, stuff sacks for the everyday organizing and dry bags for the gear that cannot get wet.

Stuff Sack FAQ

What size stuff sack do I need? Small sacks (2 to 5L) are great for cook kits, cables, and small clothing. Mid sizes (8 to 13L) handle layers and a puffy. Larger sacks swallow a quilt or bulkier clothing. Most hikers carry a few sizes.

Are your stuff sacks waterproof? Our standard stuff sacks are built for organization and are water-resistant. For full moisture protection, choose a waterproof fabric or pair with one of our roll top dry bags.
