Proof That 3 Miles Can Build a Trail Family
We recently had an incredible weekend for our "Hilltop Packs On The Hill" event, and if there's one thing we learned, it's that you don't need a thousand miles to make lifelong friends.
People drove in from states away, from different jobs, and different walks of life. Most were complete strangers before they arrived. Yet, over a simple, three-mile backpacking trip, all those differences melted away. What we gained wasn't just fresh air; it was a brand-new trail family.
Strangers Become Family
The trail has a superpower: it acts as the fastest icebreaker in the world. When you’re focused on the dirt, the steps, and the shared effort, all the usual awkward conversation barriers just vanish.

The Shared Effort is the Bond: Whether it was helping someone over a tricky section or just sharing a laugh about who was carrying the most snacks, we were instantly operating as a team. That feeling of mutual support builds trust quicker than any other activity.
-
Real Talk, Fast: Away from the endless notifications and pressure of home, the simple act of walking side-by-side led to deep, genuine conversation. There was no need for small talk; we were all there for the same reason, connected by a common passion for the outdoors.
The Value Isn't in the Mileage
We only covered three miles, the value of this trip wasn't measured on a map, but in the new experiences we all collected:
"Hilltop Packs On The Hill" wasn’t about proving how far we could go. It was about proving how fast strangers can become friends when they share a common passion and a short, meaningful journey.
To everyone who showed up: We can't wait until 2026! Next years date will be announced soon

Had a great weekend! Look forward to the next get together.
