Raven X UL Backpack

The Raven X UL Backpack is a handmade, frameless backpack designed to endure tough miles on the trail. Crafted from heavy-duty X-Pac VX21 fabric, this pack offers exceptional durability while maintaining a lightweight profile.

PACK VOLUME OPTIONS
- Available in a 35, 40, 45 & 50 liter volume size. Please keep in mind, volume measurement includes the INTERNAL compartment of the main pack only. Side pockets and front pocket are not included when factoring in this volume size. With our design, your torso size will not affect your capacity volume. Many other companies add up all pockets for total volume. We don't do that. So your 60 Liter pack from REI will most likely compare to our 45 liter Raven.
ULTRALIGHT
- Even though we used a heavier VX21 X-Pac fabric for this pack we did our best to strip to a crazy light weight. Depending on options, this pack weighs around 28 ounces.
FEATURES
- Made of a heavier VX21 X-Pac Fabric
- All horizontal seams are taped for increased weather resistance. Vertical seams are double sewn and bias tape reinforced.
- Adjustable side pockets each hold up to 2x 1 Liter Smart Water Bottles.
- 3" Wide, comfortable shoulder straps with military grade grosgrain daisy chain.
- Front Pocket Open Air Polyester Mesh or Closed Fabric Stretchy Mesh.
- Bottom Stretchy Pocket (optional)
- Removable elastic cord tie downs on sides and front over pocket.
- Military Grade Grosgrain attachment points all around
- 37" Tall unrolled. 12" wide. depth depends on liter size.
- Frameless.
- Removable and replaceable fully padded hip belt. Change belt size anytime.
- Comfort rating total trail weight 25-28lbs. Max total trail rating 30-35lbs. If over 25lbs consider the padded hip belt option.
- Includes Load Lifters
- Includes an Ice Axe Loop
- Bottom Stretchy Pocket (underneath the pack)
- Open air big mesh front pocket for maximum air flow to dry your gear
BACK PADDING OPTIONS
- This pack does not include back padding.
- Elastic cord tie downs to hold a sit pad are included. Easy to remove if not needed.
HIP BELT OPTIONS
- 1" Removable web strap hip belt
- 3" Removable Fully Padded Hip Belt
- Or, No belt. There will still be loops where you can add a 1" web belt later.

TORSO SIZE
- Select your exact Torso size. When measuring if you feel you are in between sizes use the smaller number. For the best pack ride you are better off with a pack that's an inch smaller than an inch too big. Here is a link to someone else's guide to measuring torso size.

Have been backpacking for most of my life and as I've gotten older, I'm trying to make a real effort to cut down on pack weight. I've always had light weight stuff, but there's a whole level of UL beyond the typical brands we're all familiar with. Had been using an Osprey for a while and loved it, but the pack weight itself was just over 5lbs. Was considering buying a Hyperlite, Gossamer, REI or Six Moon pack before checking out Hilltop. Just got my pack in May and did my first overnighter in June and man do I love this thing.
It took about 12 weeks to get the pack and the wait was well worth it. I took the pack on it's first spin last weekend on a short one nigher in Clear Creek State Forest and the fit, feel and weight far surpassed my expectations. This pack was handmade and fits me perfectly. Had to take a few measurements before ordering and it made a noticeable difference, it fits perfectly. Significantly better than the typical big box store pack with only a handful of different sizes.
When I received the pack, I couldn't believe how small and light the package was, there was no way a 50l pack was squeezed into that small shipping bag. The pack shaved well over 2lbs off of my pack weight and carries more than enough gear for a multi night trek. The craftsmanship is incredible, it feels incredibly sturdy. I'll be doing a multi-night trip in Grand Teton this fall and I know this pack will make a huge difference versus the old pack I was using.
One of the best parts of this pack is also the price point. It's very competitive compared to other similar mass produced packs. Supporting a small local business is pretty great as well. I'm located in Pittsburgh and Hilltop is just a short drive south of me. Super awesome having such quality outdoor gear made right here in Southwestern PA. I'll surely be pushing all of my friends and anyone I chat with about gear to purchase from Hilltop.
As I was getting prepared for my first overnight hike of more than 15 miles in 25 years and after Ben weighed my current pack at 79 oz, He insisted on making me a new pack. Hence the Raven X. Weighs in at 28 oz and with other equipment from Hilltop packs, including water all in at about 22lbs. Hit the trail to the roaring plains wilderness area for a 2 day overnight hike! Can’t say enough about how this pack and all the equipment I got from hilltop packs performed. If you need a light weight pack and want to dial your current equipment in to make an ultra light backpacking experience visit them! You won’t be sorry! Family business started and operated in Greene County!!! I am proud of this pack!!
