Ultralight Bear Bag Throw Kit (Rock Sack + Cord System)

Im so glad i got the full kit and large dogbone toggle. The mini carabiners and large toggle are an excellent combo... and really helps me lock in that PCT hang. I went with the yellow bag to find it after a throw and i swear it seems it a little reflective. The bag is very light and it feels bomb proof, definitely can take abuse from trees and being dragged around. Currently using a tautline hitch and the rope seems to hold that knot very well. Another excellently made product. I would definitely buy the full kit, such a great deal!! Thanks!!

Hilltop is a good place to prepare for the backcountry -- the big stores like REI want to sell giant plastic bear-proof containers. My ultra-light bear bag throw kit is handy. Yes, you can DITY, by why bother for the inexpensive product, good construction, and thoughtful design?

Very well made and a nice package. I spliced loops into both ends of the rope and girth hitched the rope to the cord winder. Works great! Love that it all fits conveniently into the throw bag, which all fits perfectly into my coffee cup in my pack. Well done Hilltop!

Okay, listen up, adventurers… I didn’t think a glorified sack for rocks could change my life, but here we are. This little kit is the superhero sidekick I never knew my thru-hike needed. It’s like the Swiss Army knife of bear bag throwers without all the sharp bits and existential dread.
First of all, this thing is so lightweight I briefly worried it was plotting an escape from my pack. But nope it was just quietly waiting to help me launch my snacks into the treetops like a culinary catapult. It’s easy enough that even my Pomeranian, Moose, could use it if he had opposable thumbs. (He tried. Spoiler: he does not.)

This bag is perfect for my thru hike I’m doing in 2026! I was able to practice with it and do some shake out hikes and everything fits and it hangs so easily. I got a misprint bag on sale and unfortunately I couldn’t add a spoon holder to the bag but I’ll figure something out to make sure I don’t lost it! Thank you!

I was a first time backpacker when I used this for the first time. I practiced at home but LOVED how easy it was to learn. I do wish it came with a couple videos to watch. I didn't know how to use the Dog Bone part and lost that - it flew off. But other than that, super grateful for this!
